Meet Our Doctors
Brent Rising, DDS
My favorite part of working in the dental profession is seeing the outcomes of various treatments: the way someone grins from their new smile, the relief and comfort someone displays from eliminating their pain, and even the satisfaction someone has from being able to chew and eat the foods they love once again. As a healthcare provider, I love being able to take care of people. I am dedicated to providing the highest quality dentistry with all the comforts. I look forward to getting to know people and the challenge of creating a unique and customized plan for each patient. Helping people on a personal level is more fulfilling than I ever thought possible. I was born and raised in a small town in North Dakota. North Dakota State University is where I earned my Bachelor of Science degree. My wife and I, however, have called Omaha home for many years. Creighton University is where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. On July 4th, 2013, we welcomed our baby girl. It has been fun wearing the dad hat and seeing our daughter grow. We also have three border collies. When not in the office, I enjoy spending time in the outdoors with my family and dogs. I can regularly be found camping in Nebraska, hiking in Montana, or fishing in North Dakota. Having spent time in Honduras and Guatemala helping the under-served with their dental needs, I find it personally rewarding to give back to communities and help the less fortunate.

I have practiced dentistry at Today’s Dental since 1980. It is my goal to help patients achieve ideal dental health safely, comfortably, and confidently. I am proud of my team and their shared commitment to help patients improve their health by providing the best dental care possible. I earned my undergraduate degree at Kansas State and my Doctorate of Dental Surgery at Creighton School of Dentistry. I have 32 years of experience in the treatment of occlusion, IV sedation dentistry, CEREC®, and bioesthetic dentistry. Every year, there are dozens of advancements made in the dental field. Continuing education offers the opportunity to stay current with the latest trends and treatment techniques. I recognize that dentistry is always changing and advancing, and I do everything I can to provide my patients with the most advanced and complete care available. I regularly participate in continuing education opportunities through my many professional affiliations. I have been a resident of Omaha since 1976. I have four daughters, eight grandchildren, and a pet turtle. In my free time, I enjoy traveling to California for SCUBA and free diving, cooking, and tackling new and challenging things.

At the age of 16 I found my calling, I was fortunate enough to be given a job by my family dentist as a dental assistant and knew this was what I wanted to do with my life. As cliché as it sounds, the main reason I love what I do is the relationships I get to build with our patients. I am very much a people person and getting to see patients twice a year–if not more–is my favorite part. Most people do not enjoy going to the dentist but my #1 goal is to convince them otherwise (including my mom!). The best part of my day is that no day in the same, I enjoy doing all different aspects of dentistry including crowns, root canal, dentures and my favorite, Invisalign. Being able to provide all parts of dentistry is my goal. Working with the best and most advanced technology and attending my continuing education courses allows me to provide the best dentistry I can to my patients. In 2004, I married my high school sweetheart, Matt. We both attended the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and are big Husker fans, so many Saturdays in the fall you will find us in Lincoln. We have two kiddos Kenley and Grant who are my everything. Matt travels for his job, so when I’m not at the office, a lot of my time is spent chauffeuring my kids around. I love to cook and entertain, and if I weren’t a dentist, I would love to be a chef and/or party planner. I also enjoy traveling, gardening, and being outside–I am not one to just sit around too often.

My interest in art and science is what initially drew me to dentistry. Over the years, it has grown into a passion. I enjoy all aspects of dentistry, but especially getting to know the people behind the smiles. I am excited to be a part of such a great team at Today's Dental. It is so rewarding to come to work in a place where everyone is committed to putting the patient first. I studied plant genetics at Montana State University for my undergraduate. I found my way to Omaha via Creighton University School of Dentistry and have been here ever since. I had such a great experience at Creighton that I joined the faculty a few years after graduation. I have taught at the Dental School part time in the departments of Endodontics and General Dentistry. Through my Creighton connections, I have also been fortunate to be a part of the Henry Doorly Zoo dental team. We go in when animals such as tigers or gorillas have dental issues and help the veterinarians. It is exciting to see exotic animals up close and help them with their oral health. Dentistry is rapidly evolving, from implants to cosmetics and new preventive measures. I seek out continuing education through various dental organizations to stay up-to-date and give our patients the highest quality treatment available. As a result of the continuing education I've done, I received a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry. My husband and I welcomed our baby boy last May. He has been keeping us busy and enjoys playing with his "brothers" (our golden doodle and Cavalier King Charles Spaniel). We love doing outdoor activities like running, hiking, and biking.

I have always been interested in working with my hands to build, fix, and design. Dentistry has presented me the opportunity to do all of these things and apply different sciences and materials so that I can continue to improve and modify my skills. Staying up to date on the latest research and products is very important to me and I feel that my patients have greatly benefited from my efforts to do so. My hometown is Papillion, Nebraska and I attended college at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I remained in Lincoln to attend the University of Nebraska Medical Center College Of Dentistry. After receiving my Doctor or Dental Surgery degree I elected to enroll in an Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at Wichita State University in Kansas. This one year long program offered me the opportunity to work side by side with a variety of specialists and other general dentists to learn the advanced techniques and technologies they use in their own fields of dentistry. My wife and son are excited to be back in Nebraska and I am thrilled to be working with a great team at Today’s Dental.

I love the relationships that I’m able to create through Dentistry. I thrive in environments where I can work with and around people. But even more importantly, where I can get to know people. I enjoy building relationships with patients that eventually lead to trust. I want all of my patients to feel like they can trust me and to know that I care not only about their smile but also, their whole self. I’m born and raised in Nebraska. I grew up in the small town of Mead, approximately 20 minutes west of Omaha. I went to Creighton for my undergraduate where I played volleyball and majored in Exercise Science. I then attended Creighton School of Dentistry and graduated with my Doctorate of Dental Surgery. My fiance and I met in dental school during my first year. We’ll be married soon. Together we love to travel, hike, go to farmers markets, bike, and try all the local donut shops.

I have a passion for comprehensive dental care that provides optimum esthetics, function, and overall health. I value building relationships with my patients so I can truly understand and meet the goals of each individual. Everyone has a different reason for coming in and it is my job to meet their needs. I am originally from Spencer, Iowa, which is in the northwest part of the state near Okoboji. I received my undergraduate degree from Creighton University and went on to earn my dental degree from The University of Iowa College of Dentistry. My experience with the most up-to-date dental technology enables me to offer my patients advanced, comfortable dentistry and achieve excellent results. I am a member of the American Dental Association and Academy of General Dentistry, in which I have completed my fellowship. I am committed to lifelong continuing education to ensure I am always providing my patients with the best care possible. I am a member of the Midwest Gnathostatic Research & Study Group, which meets yearly to discuss varying dental topics. I also have completed several courses at the Pankey Institute for Advanced Dental Education. The Pankey Institute courses of study are recognized by leading dental associations and attract dentists from all over the world who want to provide their patients with top-quality, personalized care. At home, I enjoy spending time with my husband, Brent, and my son, Porter. We love cheering on the Creighton Bluejays and Iowa Hawkeyes!
My passion for dentistry developed from my interests in artistic craftsmanship and enjoyment of building relationships with new, interesting people. Having the opportunity to treat various diseases while helping patients feel welcomed and comfortable has quickly turned into a life-long hobby. I look forward to using my vast background of biological sciences to restore and maintain a functional lifestyle for others. Born and raised in southern New Mexico, I completed my undergraduate degree in Biology. Following my time there, I moved to Omaha where I attended Creighton University for dental school. Between my time at Creighton and practicing dentistry at Today’s Dental I briefly moved back to Albuquerque, NM to complete training as a resident in Advanced General Dentistry as a part of the University of New Mexico Hospital. My wife I and were recently married. We frequent the farmer’s markets in the spring and summers. We enjoy hiking, camping, and taking on outdoor adventures with our dachshund, Brew.
Dr. Carlson was born and raised in Aberdeen, SD and obtained her Bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She then received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center College of Dentistry in 2016. After dental school, she wanted to continue on with her education so she attended a 2-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry program at the University of Oklahoma College of Dentistry. There she was able to work under many specialists in the field and learn more complicated restorative and surgical procedures. She loves building trusting relationships with her patients and boosting their confidence with a beautiful, healthy smile. In her free time she enjoys staying active by running and playing tennis, traveling, reading, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
