Tooth Replacement with Dentures
Patients who are missing many or all of their teeth often find that the most efficient way to replace those teeth is with dentures. Unlike dentures of the past, the dentures that our team create for you fit great, look natural, and function more like your natural teeth. We bet that once you’ve gotten used to them, you’ll forget you’re even wearing them most of the time!
What Are Dentures?
Essentially, dentures are a set of false teeth that replace the teeth that you’re missing. Depending on how many teeth you’re missing, we can fit you for partial dentures or a full set of dentures. The benefits of dentures include:
- Giving you a full smile again
- Filling out your face and cheeks
- Allowing you to eat your favorite foods
- Letting you speak more easily
- Maintaining good gum health

Partial Denture
If you’re missing a couple of teeth here and there in either your upper or lower arch, a partial denture may be the best way to go. A partial denture consists of false teeth connected to an acrylic base that matches the color of your gums. This base covers a metal framework that holds the teeth in place. Partial dentures are great for patients with one or more natural teeth still in place.
Full Denture
When all teeth in an arch are missing, it’s best to consider a full denture. For the upper arch, a full denture consists of a full arch of teeth attached to an acrylic plate that covers the roof of the mouth. The plate matches the color of your gums to blend in. For the bottom arch, the denture is horseshoe shaped, but the false teeth still rest of the acrylic, gum-colored base.
Dentures vs. Implants
You’ve probably heard that dental implants are an ideal way to replace missing teeth. While that may be true for some patients, implants aren’t right for everyone. The best way to determine whether dentures or implants are right for you is to schedule a consultation with one of the dentists at Today’s Dental. We’ll review your specific case, discuss your needs and lifestyle, and help you determine which tooth replacement option is right for you.
