Looking For Sedation Dentistry?
Dental anxiety is a common issue that can prevent people from making regular dental appointments. We want you to feel comfortable at your appointment, and for some our aromatherapy and blankets may not be enough. This is why we have numerous sedation options to keep you relaxed during your treatment.
IV Sedation Dentistry
We are certified in intravenous (IV) sedation dentistry, one of the strongest and most relaxing forms of sedation we offer. IV sedation has a sedative effect that also controls pain. It is most often used with tooth extractions and dental implant placements. However, it is also suitable for those with debilitating and severe dental anxiety. Most people come out of the sedation feeling as though only a few seconds had passed.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Oral conscious sedation is a prescription medication that you take an hour before your scheduled appointment. We prescribe you a pill to take before your appointment so by the time your treatment starts, you will already be feeling very relaxed and comfortable. While you will still be conscious during your treatment, you will feel sleepy and completely relaxed. Since oral conscious sedation takes several hours to wear off, you will need to arrange to have someone take you home after your appointment.
Nitrous oxide is a sweet smelling gas that you breathe in during your treatment to keep you relaxed and comfortable. It is also known as laughing gas, and it is another type of sedation that will make you feel very relaxed but still awake during your treatment. After a few minutes of breathing normally without the nitrous oxide, it will wear off so you can go about your day after your appointment without feeling any side effects.
Today’s Dental wants you to feel comfortable during your appointments. We strive to give you options when it comes to your comfort, so if you have any anxiety or nervousness about your appointment, please let us know so we can make arrangements to accommodate you.
